(By Rachel Joyce)
Despite being created by the hand of God,
To be beautiful masterpieces of His love,
We were marred and marked by sin,
Unable to do the good things
He had prepared for us
Before the beginning of time.
So Jesus came to rescue and re-create us
Through His agonizing, atoning death
Upon that cross, and as we placed
Our faith in His cleansing blood,
We were reborn, made new,
Accepted in the beloved Son of God.
And as we rest in Him, we marvel and delight
In His limitless love and grace,
Our hearts are lost in holy wonder,
The awe of unconditional acceptance—
Sin and shame forever banished,
And closeness with our God, our daily joy.
Created afresh in our blessed Lord, we wait
And our souls long for that glorious day
When He will make all things new.
Sin will be only a faint memory,
Tears, weakness, and pain forever gone
And joy in Jesus our endless future.
Until that day, we rest in His love and acceptance,
Exult in His grace, and worship Him,
With all that we have and are.
With eyes on Him and ears alert,
We seek to do His will and honor Him,
To show our broken world, how truly glorious He is.
Verses:
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10).
“I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, ‘Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.’ And the one sitting on the throne said, ‘Look, I am making everything new!’” (Rev 21:3-5).
