I was driving in the car with my six-year-old granddaughter and we were listening to some Christian music. I heard her little voice in the backseat quietly singing along.
I said, “Remi, Gramma loves to hear you sing.” A smile came over her face, and did you know that her voice got louder? She confidently sang at the top of her lungs.
Why? Because her Gramma loves to hear her sing. I had encouraged her and told her how much I loved to hear her voice.
She was timid in the beginning, maybe worried about how I may react to her singing, or maybe she felt she wasn’t good enough.
Do you ever feel like that with God?
Do you know that your Heavenly Father delights to hear your voice? God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and His character never changes. You will never have to wonder what He thinks of you or what type of reception you will receive.
“The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but he delights in the prayers of the upright” (Proverbs 15:8).
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds,“ LORD, I am coming” (Psalm 27:8).
“In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly” (Psalm 5:3).
“Answer my prayers, O LORD, for your unfailing love is wonderful. Take care of me, for your mercy is so plentiful” (Psalm 69:16).
“The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing” (Zephaniah 3:17).
Maybe your prayers feel timid and hesitant as if you’re bothering God by bringing up the same request, struggle, or even your lack of desire to pray.
Maybe you know His Word says He loves you and delights in hearing from you, but you don’t feel it. You haven’t been talking to Him like you want to. Bring that to Him. Tell Him all about it and rest in His promise that you are valuable to Him and He delights in hearing from you.
Maybe you feel your prayers aren’t in tune, they aren’t perfectly spoken with all the right words. God isn’t looking for perfection, He is looking for a heart that longs to talk to Him.
Maybe you have a vibrant prayer life and you talk to God often throughout the day. Keep praying, you delight His heart.
God wants to be believed. He wants us to stand on His promises and declare them back to Him. He wants that deep and personal relationship with us.
Sing loud, dear Sister! God delights to hear His daughter's voice.
