(By Rachel Joyce)
“It is finished!”
Resounded His loud, triumphant cry.
And it was; all God’s wrath,
His judgment of our sin
Poured out upon
His precious Son.
And we are free.
“It is finished!”
Resounded His loud, triumphant cry.
And it was; all our shame
He carried, so we
Would only know
Honor—the value
Of a soul redeemed.
“It is finished!”
Resounded His loud, triumphant cry.
And it was; our rejection
Was forever, completely
Swallowed up
By acceptance
In the Beloved.
“It is finished!”
Resounded His loud, triumphant cry.
And it was; sin’s hold on us
Completely dissolved.
No longer slaves,
We live as God’s
Adored children.
“It is finished!”
Resounded His loud, triumphant cry.
And it was; the work
Forever done,
Our rest complete,
No more striving,
Only peace.
