(By Rachel Joyce)
Wisdom stooped.
Full of grace and truth, You came,
Jesus, my Lord, for me.
Divine wisdom, embodied,
Lay nestled in Mary’s arms
While the night sky reverberated
With angel praises.
Wisdom reached.
You trod Galilee’s dusty roads,
Under the searing sun,
Jostled by the crowds,
And besieged by the diseased
Who hungrily reached
For Your healing touch.
Wisdom walked.
You entered Gethsemane’s
Garden singing, “For His love
Endures forever” and knelt
To pray in anguish and tears
As the anticipation of the cross
Oppressed Your soul.
Wisdom suffered.
Willingly, You lay down,
On that rough, wooden cross,
Stretched out your hands
For the nails and endured,
The shame, agony, and judgment
For me, all for me.
Wisdom triumphed.
On that third day, death died
And Jesus rose victorious,
Having made forgiveness
By faith and the life of the Spirit
Available to all who receive
Him, the Wisdom of God.
“For he had healed many, so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him. Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, 'You are the Son of God'” (Mark 3:10-11).
“Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them” (Matthew 4:23-24).
“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” (Matthew 9:35-36).
“And the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all” (Luke 6:19).
“As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. "Who touched me?" Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you." But Jesus said, "Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace” (Luke 8:43-48).
“And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed” (Matthew 14:35-36).
