My One Word for 2025

He is infinite, but I am finite. For me, every more requires a less.

I'd never been so late in discovering my one word for the new year, and it seemed that God was silent. I’d prayed and wondered, read my Bible, and asked God, but had no answer.

Then, in the stillness, I heard His whisper…“more.”

Really, Lord? I’m not comfortable with that word. I think “less” is a little more of what I need: less stress, less pain, less responsibility. Why on earth would You give me “more” for a word?

And as I questioned and listened, He began to help me understand. I need more of Him and He wants more of me.

He is infinite, but I am finite. For me, every more requires a less.

More faith, less doubting.

More stillness, less busyness.

More focus, less distraction.

More peace, less stress.

More love, less fear.

He calls me to choose.

Lord, help me choose wisely the more You have for me. Help me let go of all that gets in the way of the more that is Your will.

And I become aware that the only way to live this out is by holding tightly to His hand, looking intently on His face, and listening to His voice. I need to stay so close to Him that I become familiar with the rhythm of His heart. So that rhythm can be the rhythm of my life.

Lord, let this be the year that I walk more closely with You. Let my heart be more aligned with Yours. Let me love as You love, serve as You serve, and worship you with full and complete abandon. Let this year of “more” lead me to experience more of You, love You more, and bring You more glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
